Top Knobs Completes Two Kitchen Renovations on HGTV’s Brother vs. Brother

This season on HGTV’s Brother vs. Brother, Jonathan and Drew take on San Francisco’s real estate game. Each brother buys a house sight unseen, to completely remodel throughout the season. Each episode, the brothers compete by renovating the same room in their respective houses. Their renovations are judged anonymously by industry professionals, and the winner is rewarded while the loser is stuck with the renovation clean up. Both brother’s design teams requested Top Knobs as the decorative hardware to serve as the finishing touch of their designs.

The second episode of the season focused on kitchens. Drew worked on transforming his dated 1970’s space into a modern California kitchen, while Jonathan took a risk transforming a dingy kitchen into an eco-chic, family friendly space.

Jonathan’s eco-chic kitchen featured a natural bark wall, an oversized island, high ceilings, and unusual black cabinets with contemporary Top Knobs fixtures. The Top Knobs Modern Metro Tab Pulls in flat black added a touch of sophistication and style to the kitchen.

Jonathan also converted an otherwise useless space near the kitchen into a small yet stylish powder room. Here, he used the Top Knobs Hopewell collection to complete the space.

While foundation and sewer line problems put Jonathan over his original budget, the remodel was still a success. He explains, “This is one of the best kitchen renovations I’ve ever done. The unique black cabinetry provided a sleek backdrop for brightly colored accents.”

On the other hand, Drew’s modern California design featured beautiful vaulted ceilings, a concrete dining table, and floating shelves. However, the wow factor in this kitchen came from the beautiful counter tops, appliances and natural wood cabinetry.

The wood cabinetry and lower cabinets were made complete with Top Knobs decorative hardware. With so many different styles and colors used throughout the space, Drew opted for a Modern Square Bar Pull to pull the design together.

Leanne and Steve Ford of HGTV’s Restored by the Fords were brought in as guest judges for the kitchen showdown. While they admitted it was a very close call, Jonathans classic yet modern kitchen design and unique black cabinets them over. For his win, Jonathan was awarded an exclusive Star Wars and Lucas Films tour, while Drew was left with the renovation clean up.

Aspen Collection Helps Transform an Arizona Fixer-Upper Kitchen

When it came time for Chicago native Michele from Hello Lovely Studio and her husband to choose a second home for vacation and retirement, picking the location was simple. With year-round warm weather, open space and family living nearby the couple purchased a 4 bedroom Mediterranean style cottage in Arizona. While the home was practically like new, it lacked the serene style and relaxing atmosphere they craved in a vacation home. Cabinet hardware from the Top Knobs Aspen Collection helped transform the once plain kitchen into a French-Nordic inspired paradise.

Arizona Home Shot

Having previously renovated her primary residence, Michele was confident that she could transform her kitchen all on her own. To start, the couple salvaged the old maple cabinets and painted them a soft European blue-grey color. Since the cabinets stood short in a room with 9 foot ceilings, they added risers to the cabinet tops and installed crown molding for dimension.

After

Michele traded in her dark colored appliances for bright, stainless steel. The once mottled brown laminate countertops were replaced with Quartz countertop  accented by Calacatta gold marble wall tile.

To aid in the chic, yet serene, charm of the kitchen Michele partnered with Top Knobs and installed knobs and pulls from the Top Knobs Aspen Collection. 3-inch Aspen Cup Pulls were used on the lower drawers, while Aspen Potato Knobs were used on upper and lower cabinets. The subtle look of the collection added much needed style to the once bare cabinets.

Normandy Collection featured in HOUZZ Kitchen of the Week

Designer Charmean Neithart had a challenge in front of her when she accepted a Pasadena California kitchen project. Her client, a couple and their twin girls, wanted a functional floor plan that allowed for two people to work side by side in a 10-by-11-foot kitchen.

The result is a bright, open, colorful kitchen inspired by Italian pottery. It is a design where counterspace and pantry storage are the priority. Hand-painted terracotta tile, a farmhouse sink, and blue painted cabinets accented with Top Knobs Normandy knobs and pulls complete the look.

The rustic Top Knobs Normandy Collection includes a variety of birdcage and twisted wire designs – 7 pull, 11 knob, 2 ring pull, 2 drop pull and 4 different backplate styles. For this project 3 3/16″ Normandy Square Twist T-Handles in Pewter finish were used on upper cabinets to add a touch of olde world style. The drawers and bottom cabinets feature Normandy square twist pulls with backplates in a variety of sizes. The decorative hardware’s Pewter finish suits the age of the home and looks beautiful with the blue paint.

This kitchen was selected as the HOUZZ Kitchen of the Week. Read more details of complete kitchen remodel on HOUZZ.

Chip and Joanna Gaines from HGTV’s hit show Fixer Upper helped a first-time home-buying couple transform a vintage property into a modern home, complete with cabinet hardware from Top Knobs in their season 3 episode “Tiny House, Big Charm.”

Before and After Home Shots: Top Knobs Adds a Modern Touch to Kitchen on HGTV's Fixer UpperThe couple chose to purchase one of the two remaining original shotgun style houses in Waco, Texas – but it required extensive interior and exterior repairs. Project Review: Modernized 1890s Brownstone Kitchen

Michele Alfano of Michele Alfano Designs, known for her modern signature, recently took on a new challenge to work with clients who prefer a more traditional style. She was asked to modernize the kitchen of a 1892 brownstone in Hoboken, NJ yet maintain the home’s historic touches. Top Knobs Somerset transitional style decorative hardware was an integral part of the design.

“The Hoboken home had great bones,” said Alfano. The designer introduced tin metal into the kitchen that brought in sophisticated and historic detailing. It not only honored the personality of Victorian homes in the 1890s, but also created an architectural focal point in this kitchen.

Brownstone-Project-Top-Knobs-Alfano-DesignsThe tin was recessed into the sheetrock ceiling directly over the island and in line with the pantry. A pure modern gesture.

White cabinetry was accented with shades of grays. The honed gray concrete counter in combination with the polished marble-look island makes a statement. The crisp lines of the island’s waterfall stone edge swirl with attention.

The client fell in love with the Top Knobs Somerset pull and cup pull decorative hardware collection in a brushed nickel finish. Its contemporary design with striking curves and straight edges was a nice accent to the lines of the cabinetry.

The Somerset collection offers a seamless transition between classic and contemporary. The cabinet hardware is available in 2 ½” and 3” cup pulls, nine knob styles and five style pulls: Star pulls, Voss pulls, Arendal pulls, Somerset pulls and Wire pulls. A mixture of 18 finishes varying by product style make the transitional Top Knobs collection ideal for nearly any kitchen design.

The apron front sink was a perfect selection for the kitchen. A contemporary take on a classic style, it is crafted in Silgranit, a granite composite that is ultra-cleanable and extremely durable. The client loves it.

Layers of lighting fill the kitchen space. Recessed ceiling lighting, under-cabinet lighting and modern pendants drop from the geometric tin ceiling over the island. Opening up the back wall with a large span of windows was key to the design. Views of their garden with tons of natural light pours into their space making it feel larger.

According to Alfano, the collaboration with the client worked seamlessly and they are so happy in their new home.

Taking kitchen design to the next level with Appliance Pulls

Cabinet hardware is often referred to as jewelry for the kitchen, or the icing on the cake of a beautiful kitchen design. But its one piece of hardware in particular takes kitchen designs to the next level: appliance pulls.

Appliance pulls from Top Knobs offer an opportunity to personalize appliances while creating a cohesive, coordinating look in kitchen design. Designed to coordinate with cabinet hardware, they are typically used on paneled refrigerators, freezers, trash compactors, or dishwashers where the front of the appliance looks like a cabinet face rather than an appliance. The pull is used to open the appliance door.

Top Knobs offers an extensive range of Appliance Pulls in a variety of styles and finishes. The choice of what Appliance Pull style to use is usually based on matching the cabinet hardware installed on other cabinets and drawers.

Designed to coordinate with Top Knobs pulls and knobs, some of the most popular Top Knobs Appliance Pulls include the Kara Appliance Pull, Edgewater Appliance Pull, Ascendra Appliance Pull, Hopewell Appliance Pull and Reeded Appliance Pull.

The Top Knobs Appliance Pull collection is offered in 8 different lengths to match any design scheme. Ranging in length from 8″ to 30″, each come with proprietary sealed finish and lifetime warranty.

In order to install an Appliance Pull it is best to refer to the appliance manufacturer’s installation manual. A Top Knobs showroom dealer can also assist with professional installation.
