Top Knobs Unveils the Bayridge, Califon and Lavington Suites — Three Distinct Personalities Within the Pemberton Collection

Top Knobs, the leading manufacturer of decorative kitchen and bath hardware, highlights the Bayridge, Califon and Lavington Suites, from the Pemberton Collection. Designed to embody the collection’s modern heritage influences, each suite offers a unique interpretation of timeless design through distinctive silhouettes, thoughtful detailing and versatile styling.

Califon, knobs and pulls in Brushed Satin Nickel

Balancing classic forms with contemporary details, the Bayridge, Califon and Lavington suites bring design flexibility to the Pemberton Collection. The Bayridge Suite embraces understated elegance — soft rounded forms and refined detailing draw the eye across each knob and pull with quiet confidence. The Califon Suite offers a more architectural aesthetic defined by linear proportions. Each knob and pull within the suite delivers a tailored look through rectangular features that catch the eye. The Lavington Suite offers modern sensibility, with knobs and pulls that pair functional embellishments with an ease of grip, bringing sophisticated utility to kitchens, baths and living spaces.

“With Pemberton, our intention was to create a collection rooted in timeless design while offering designers the freedom to express different aesthetics,” notes Christine Zimmer, Senior Director of Decorative Hardware. “Bayridge, Califon and Lavington each embody a unique design language, demonstrating how subtle nuances among each suite allow homeowners to create spaces that feel both timeless and uniquely their own.”

A Top Knobs Timeline: The Evolution of Decorative Hardware Design

Since 1994, Top Knobs has been designing decorative hardware collections that reflect what’s currently trending in interior design and cabinetry. As the leading manufacturer of decorative hardware, Top Knobs offers the largest selection of products, the greatest number of showroom locations and the most extensive line of premium designs. With over 4,500 styles to choose from, our collections are created to suit every taste and aesthetic. Join us as we take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of the top trends Top Knobs has set over the years:

2000s: Warm and Antique Finishes

In the early 2000s, old-world designs experienced a rise in popularity, emphasizing the desire for warm, familiar elements that evoked styles of the past. To create a rustic aesthetic, finishes that mimicked the natural aging process, such as weathered, burnished or oxidized looks, were embraced in kitchens, bathrooms and more. From Pewer Antique, a muted silver-gray tone, to German Bronze, an aged bronze hue, Top Knobs began offering a wide variety of antique-inspired finishes to capture the essence of old-warm charm and classic European artistry.

2010s: Vintage-Inspired Knobs and Pulls

Rooted in the craftsmanship of iconic design eras such as Victorian, Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern, heritage-style hardware features ornate details and transitional shapes reminiscent of historical elegance. In the 2010s, classic silhouettes like drop and pendant pulls made a strong comeback, reintroducing a feeling of nostalgia and character to interiors. Collections such as Top Knobs’ Edwardian, Britannia, and Normandy refined vintage charm with ribbon-and-reed patterns and intricate detailing that add personality and timeless appeal to any room.

Mid-2010s: Jewelry-Style Accents

By the mid-2010s, homeowners and interior designs began viewing decorative hardware as the “jewelry” of the home. The same way accessories elevate an outfit, hardware pieces were designed to stand out – not blend into cabinetry – bringing sparkle, meticulous details and a touch of glam to spaces. Featuring gem-like knobs, chic finishes, and sophisticated geometric shapes, Top Knobs offers several collections – such as Crystal, Chareau® and Serene – that perfectly bring the glamour that’s at the heart of this trend.

Late 2010s: Honey Bronze and Ash Gray Finish is Introduced

Launched in 2017, Honey Bronze and Ash Gray quickly took over the interior design world, resonating with designers and homeowners alike. From the late 2010s into the 2020s, design trends veered toward soft metals and transitional styles, with a preference for subtle finishes that complement modern spaces. Rich yet understated, Honey Bronze – Top Knobs’ best-selling finish – brings an elegant glow to interiors. Meanwhile, Ash Gray introduces drama without the intensity of going completely dark, offering a luxe alternative to black finishes.

Early-2020s: Knurled Takeover

Knurled hardware started gaining traction in 2020, as homeowners and designers yearned for a tactile, edgy accent to enhance their cabinetry. Drawing inspiration from industrial designs, the textured hardware trend blends modern sophistication with vintage character. Top Knobs first introduced knurled details in the popular Amwell bar pull and revisited it again in 2024 with the Garrison Collection. These ribbed pieces allow designers to explore adding depth, dimension and visual intrigue to spaces.

Top Knobs: Decorative Hardware 101

Selecting the right decorative hardware for your project is no easy feat. With over 35 collections and 4,500 styles to choose from, Top Knobs offers a piece to complement every cabinet’s unique shape, style and size. To make the selection process easier, we’ve created a guide to help you navigate the wide variety of decorative hardware options and find the perfect match for your next project:

Knobs

Knobs are the smallest of all Top Knobs decorative hardware pieces, typically measuring between 1 to 2 inches. From round to oval to square, Top Knobs offers over 240 shapes and styles of knobs to suit every design aesthetic. Knobs are perfect for smaller, lighter cabinets and drawers where larger pulls might feel too bulky.

Pulls

Pulls provide a comfortable grip for opening and closing larger or heavier cabinet drawers. Top Knobs offers pulls ranging in size from 2 to 12 inches and are available in various shapes including straight, curved and geometric designs. Whether you prefer a clean look or something more detailed, Top Knobs pulls range from simple to ornate, with refined touches like knurling, etched patterns or textured finishes.

Appliance Pulls

As the largest of Top Knobs offerings, appliance pulls are designed for kitchen appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges and freezers. Appliance pulls are ideal for handling the weight of heavy doors while also offering appliances a sophisticated look that seamlessly blends with surrounding cabinetry, creating a cohesive kitchen design.

Cup Pulls

Cup pulls have a distinctive u-shape with a concave design that forms a small “cup,” providing a natural grip for opening cabinets or drawers. Because of their comfortable handle, cup pulls are commonly utilized in kitchens or bathrooms, especially on drawers that are frequently accessed for storage.

Tab Pulls

Known for their sleek design, tab pulls are ideal for those seeking an ultra-modern aesthetic. Unlike traditional pulls, tab pulls are subtle pieces that offer a minimalist look. Their clean appearance complements contemporary cabinet finishes such as flat-panel doors and handleless designs, and are also great styles for smaller cabinets or spaces.

Backplates

Placed between cabinetry and knobs or pulls, backplates introduce a second layer of visual interest to cabinetry, elevating the overall aesthetic of a design. Typically used to enhance hardware, backplates help accentuate knobs or pulls, giving cabinets a more polished and elegant appearance.

Drop Pulls

Characterized by a unique loop or ring that hangs from a backplate or mounting, drop pulls add a more detailed and decorative touch to cabinetry. Often found in vintage or classical design styles, drop pulls are known for their intricate detailing and charming embellishments.

T Knobs

T knobs get their name from their distinctive appearance, which forms the shape of a capital “T” when viewed from the front or side. Popular in modern and industrial interiors, T knobs provide an ergonomic grip – offering both a tactile feel and easy-to-pull handle.

Hooks

Often found in entryways, mudrooms, closets and bathrooms, hooks are a stylish and practical solution for hanging coats, towels, hats or scarves. The Top Knobs Ryland Collection features decorative hooks in a wide range of styles from minimalist to transitional, perfect for suiting countless interior design aesthetics.

Latches

Designed to keep cabinet doors securely closed, latches add both function and an eye-catching element to cabinetry. Especially useful in kitchens, bathrooms and freestanding furniture, latches elevate cabinetry by serving as a standout and practical design detail.
