Knobs

Knobs are one of the most versatile decorative hardware options. Available in a variety of sizes, shapes and finishes, they can be used on upper cabinets, lower cabinets and drawers. On upper cabinets knobs are typically installed between 2 ½ – 3 inches from the lower corner of the cabinet door. For lower cabinets the same measurements apply but on the upper corner.

On drawers smaller than 24” in width one knob is installed in the center of the drawer door. On drawers longer than 24” consider installing two knobs. To place two knobs, measure out the drawer door into thirds and install in the center of the outer two thirds.

Pulls

Pulls are another versatile option that can be installed on both cabinets and drawers. For both upper and lower cabinets, the pulls should be installed vertically 2 ½ – 3 inches in from the corner of the door. For drawers, they should be installed horizontally in the center of the door.

While there is no hard-set rule for the size of your pulls, consider using longer ones on larger drawers and cabinets. If you’re unsure of which size looks best you can test out multiple options through the Top Knobs free sample program. Just make sure not to drill any holes in your cabinetry until your mind is made up!

Cup Pulls

Used most commonly in traditional and transitional style kitchens, cup pulls are an excellent way to add an extra pop of personality to cabinetry. Because of the size and configuration of cup pulls they are typically only installed on drawer doors. For larger drawers, installing two cup pulls will achieve a more clean and cohesive design.

Latches

For use only on cabinet doors, latches keep your cabinet doors tightly closed and provide a more rustic look. Cabinet latches provide a bit more freedom when it comes to placement. While installing the hardware towards the bottom of the doors in upper cabinets and towards the top of the doors for lower cabinets is most common, it’s not unusual to see latches placed in the center of the cabinets as well.

Tab Pulls

Modern kitchen designs often feature tab pulls for a sleek look that doesn’t distract from the cabinetry. For drawers, tab pulls are most commonly placed along the top center of the doors. On upper cabinets tab pulls are either installed vertically on the opening of the doors or horizontally on the very bottom. For lower cabinets the opposite applies.

Appliance Pulls

Appliance pulls are the perfect way to match your appliances, large pullouts and oversized pantry doors to your cabinet hardware. When installed on dishwashers and refrigerator panels you should choose the closest size and position to the appliances original handles. For oversized doors the same rules apply as traditional cabinet pulls.

The Bergen Knob

A style chameleon, the flat topped 1 ¼” Bergen Knob finds a home in any kitchen or bath. Depending on the finish selected, the knob adds either a contemporary or a traditional accent wherever it is installed. This style is one of Top Knobs Product Manager Christine Zimmer’s favorite pieces because of its versatility.
