For over three years, Top Knobs has proudly partnered with Sunshine on a Ranney Day – a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming homes for children with special needs. Together, they have completed countless life changing projects, creating accessible bathrooms, personalized bedrooms and therapy rooms tailored to support the unique needs of each child and their family.

One of the most recent projects Top Knobs completed with Sunshine on a Ranney Day was for a 20-year-old named Dewone. Shortly after he was born, Dewone’s life shifted dramatically after contracting bacterial meningitis and suffering severe symptoms. This life-altering event left Dewone non-verbal, living with epilepsy and requiring full-time care.
Dewone is in need of constant support and personal care, all of which is lovingly provided by his single mother, Jade. A major challenge they faced was the lack of an accessible bathroom, which made basic daily routines extremely difficult. To help ease this burden, the Sunshine on a Ranney Day team renovated both Dewone’s bathroom and bedroom – creating a more functional and comfortable environment to enhance daily life for both Dewone and Jade. Key features of this project include a walk-in shower that allows Jade to bathe Dewone safely without the need for heavy lifting, and padded walls to protect him as he works on maintaining his mobility.

For this transformation, Top Knobs collaborated with the Sunshine on a Ranney Day design team to select hardware for Dewone’s new bathroom. The team ultimately selected the Riverside pull in Flat Black – one of Top Knob’s best-selling pieces.
